Frequently asked questions

If you have any questions that are not covered here, please contact here.

Q. What is a website?
A. It is basically a collection of web pages linked together with hyperlinks. Similar to a book with a binder.

Q. What do I need if I would like my own website?
A. You will initially need webspace to host the site and a domain name.
I can advise you on webspace/domain name issues.
In addition you will need to establish the page names you require (navigation) and provide the text and images that you wish to use.

Q. May we cancel our site at anytime with no penalty.
A. Yes. There is no formal contract.
You may cancel your website at anytime penalty free.
You are in total control with access to all passwords.

Q. How long does it take to create a new website?
A. This depends on how quickly I receive the information from you and how quickly emails are answered. Your site will be created at a secret location within your webspace that only you will have access to during the design process. Your feedback will be needed during this process.
Usually 1-2 weeks should be enough time for a normal website.

Q.
Do you offer online shopping?
A.
No. Online shopping is not a service currently offered.

Q. What is the difference between a .co.uk and .com domain name?
A. A .co.uk domain name is registered in the UK and you can hide your registrant details from the public.
A .com domain name is registered overseas and the registrant details cannot be hidden, a business address or PO box may be used if privacy is an issue.
Generally I would recommend that a .co.uk is fine unless you are a global company or wish to protect your business name identity.

Q. Do you require a deposit?
A. Yes. A £95.00 non-refundable deposit is required on all new commissions.

Q. How do we get a search engine listing?
A. All pages will have meta tags embedded in them (description and keywords that search engines pick out).
Your site will also be registered with the major search engines including Google and MSN.
